Chief Baby Officer - Being a healthy parent
Having kids really changes the way you look at life. One of the big changes for me was that I became aware to being healthy. I must admit I was always dismissive of my health and before having my daughters, I was eating junk food, not doing any exercise and generally leading a very unhealthy life style.
But being a father of two amazing girls changed all of that, I have realized that being healthy and leading a healthy life style is important and essential, and that it is one of the most important values I can install to my children. I assume that for each of us there is a different trigger to the change of perspective. For me it was my desire to be fit, so I can be active (mainly skiing) with my daughters in 20 years ti...

Shiri Perciger-Cohen - 1.10*

1.10, you confuse me.
I know, I know, I should be prepared. It’s not like 4.0 wasn’t 1.10 a few short years ago. Still, you perplex me.
You wake up in the middle of the night every night. What gives? Five months ago you were already sleeping through the night, and now all of a sudden it’s no good for you? You won’t go to sleep unless I’m there, which is just too cruel a trick to play on me after being the easiest kid to put to bed ever since you were 6 months old.
You won’t shower, because you don’t want to...

Chief Baby Officer - No more counting spoons
Visited the Baby Show in Birmingham, one of the fun things you get to do as the CBO (chief baby officer), loads of new products in the market, and soon,Stephen, our Baby Gear Aficionado is going to up load some reviews to the site.
I was more interested in looking into all the small gadget people invent around the baby industry. We are passionate about our children, and I think a lot of people, through the process of being a parent are coming up with different business ideas, I know I came up with one, this website.

Chief Baby Officer - First post
Welcome to my Chief baby officer blog, this is my first post so it will be slightly more formal. A quick word about this funny title of mine, I thought being called chief executive officer is far too serious for a company that deals with babies and baby products and services, hence the little twist.
I set out on building Babyfy.com about a year ago when looking for a double buggy. I was sure, that on the web I would find an online resource that will list, review and shed some light on all the available products out there,. Well, I was wrong.
There are lots of great parenting websites out there, lots of active and helpful message boards, but I couldn’t find a website that would help me, as a novice parent or a...

Shiri Perciger-Cohen - Did I not tell you already? I’m a procrastinator.
A. once told me that I’m incapable of doing one thing every single day. (We were going another round at our ongoing challenge called “I do so much more than you around this house”, and he was trying to prove a point.) I disagreed: “You could not be more wrong! I shower every day! I eat everyday! Ha!” “I mean something OTHER than your self maintenance.” A. replied, “Some chore, or responsibility, you do every day, EVERY DAY, without cutting corners, without slacking, no i’ll-do-it-tomorrows and no cover-for-me-todays. You just can’t do it, can you?”
I had to admit he was right. I HATE IT WHEN HE’S RIGHT. Grrrr. But he was. I have this horrible tendenc...

It's a Mum's Life - Tips for the newborn days
I went to see my gorgeous new nephew the other day. He was only a few days old but the new mum and dad seemed to be coping well and were really quite relaxed.
I had to hold myself back though to avoid bombarding them with advice – when you are a first-time parent everyone from the mother-in-law to the checkout lady at the supermarke provides their two-penneth about what you are doing wrong/ what you are doing right/ what you shouldn’t be doing, and it can be both overwhelming and irritating.
That said, I just couldn’t help but suggest a couple of tips for those bleary newborn days and then decided to gather a few of my favourites up and share them on here….you might find them utterly useless but here goe...

It's a Mum's Life - Not such a little man already
Well TLM and I did a very grown-up thing yesterday – we walked up to the High Road without a pushchair – he is only just two and it’s maybe two-thirds of a mile each way – and sat at a pavement cafe supping a mango smoothie together and watching the world go by.
Several times recently I’ve looked at him and thought the clichéd thought ‘where’s my baby gone?’ – he just seems so grown-up – quite the little boy. In fact sometimes he really does seem to have such an old head on his toddler sized shoulders – he is wonderfully tidy (if he changes the CD on the stereo he always puts the old one back in its case!) and mostly remarkably sensible.
But then little things remind me he IS indeed still onl...

Mamawell - Breasts after pregnancy
A woman’s breasts are a subject of great mystery and beauty. They are also a primal source of nourishment for new life. We are encouraged (mainly by the opposite sex) to show off our beauty and yet I just read about some poor woman in Houston who was breastfeeding her child in a restaurant (she had covered the baby with a blanket) and was asked to leave. It seems, we are encouraged to celebrate our femininity but not publicly supported for one of our essential roles as mothers. It makes people uncomfortable and so there we are feeling conflicted. (The painting is called Pregnant Girl by Lucia...

Shiri Perciger-Cohen - …and I’m back

So I was spending the entire week two weeks ago being horribly miserably sick *insert over-inflated self pity here*, and then the next week, which was actually last week, planning my big comeback post after not writing a whole week and guess what happened? Nothing. Nothing happened. No post and no shoes. (That’s a common saying in my family, its origins lost in the mists of time). And you know why? Because I SUCK.
If you, patient reader, were a vegetable, say a radish, and I was the gardner in charge of taking care of you, you would have probably died. ThatR...

Mamawell - Dairy sources and calcium while pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum
The whole subject of dairy during and after pregnancy really focuses on your calcium intake as your baby grows and develops strong bones and teeth. Calcium is also essential to regulate blood pressure, your heartbeat, water balance in the cells and muscle contractions. If you are not getting enough calcium, your baby will deplete your own reserves which in later life may be a cause for serious health repurcussions. So what’s a women to do if she can’t eat milk and yogurt? Or like my friend, who cannot eat dairy while breastfeeding her lactose intolerant baby who currently does not respond well to formula? Or what about a women who is pregnant with twins? How much calcium does she need? (The image is of Kelp - a very high so...
